Communication and Leadership Goals

What objectives do you hope to accomplish as a member of Chats Toastmasters?
To give an organized speech that has a definite opening, body, and close. My goal is to deliver a speech that makes absolute sense to the audience (not just to me) while using humor, questions, and addressing the “So what and who cares” principle!

Is public speaking a requirement of your job or profession?
Yes!

How would you describe your current skill level as a speaker?
Speaking, I’m a 10 – I could talk all day that’s not my problem! Effective organized speaking that is of interest to others is the issue…about a 6 ½.

Do you have any specific fears relative to public speaking?
Fear of crying! When I am nervous, excited, happy, proud, frustrated, flattered, scared, in love, overwhelmed, and pretty much any other emotion, I cry! I really hope to overcome my “cry baby” reputation!

Why did you choose to join Chats Toastmasters?
Why Not?? After visiting 13 other TM clubs in the valley, I realized this was the best and most talented group! The people are so positive, supportive, and fun! Not to mention, I get to learn from my Dad…Joel Weldon!

What can Chats Toastmasters do to help you accomplish your goals?
Be tough on me - I can handle the truth! I need the constructive criticism and honest feedback. I’m hoping that Tom Nelson’s vocabulary, Norma Ory’s professionalism, Marc Leach’s creativity, and Jennifer Carroll’s wardrobe wears off on me!

Anything else?
I still have one baby tooth that I haven’t lost yet and I’m a grown woman! It just might fall out one day at Toastmasters in the middle of a speech!
