Accomplishments and Interests: Two great kids, a phenomenal husband, corporate world survivor who successfully moved her office and career onto the golf course, 2005 Athena finalist, 2010 & 2011 President of Women in the Golf Industry. I love sports, cooking, photography, storytelling, not living in the snow, laughing with friends, and of course - playing golf! Personal and Career Goals: Enjoy life, continue to learn, make a difference, Name of Sponsor: Jennifer Scott Name of Mentor: Kathleen Tomes Communication and Leadership Goals What objectives do you hope to accomplish as a member of Chats Toastmasters? I want to continue my learning, hone my speaking skills, and become a more effective speaker. I would also like to help other members achieve their goals. Is public speaking a requirement of your job or profession? Yes! I speak to groups, deliver workshops and seminars on and off the golf course, as well as lead and facilitate a variety of meetings. How would you describe your current skill level as a speaker? Improving. I think I’m my own worst critic - I see and hear so many things everytime I hear someone speak (at CHATS and elsewhere) that I want to incorporate into my speaking toolbox. Do you have any specific fears relative to public speaking? I want to make sure that I’m connecting with the audience – that they’re following what I’m conveying – that I’ve given them a reason to listen and that they actually do! Why did you choose to join Chats Toastmasters? The camaraderie and supportive atmosphere at Chats is amazing. I felt welcome the first meeting I attended. And after winning the coveted “Best Table Topics” at my second meeting as a guest, I felt compelled to join! And then you mix in Joel Weldon’s mentorship – what a gift!
